Žádáme nového ředitele České filhamonie Vladimíra Darjanina, který do své funkce nastupuje 1. července 2009, aby zvážil odvolání Petra Nedomy z funkce ředitele Galerie Rudolfinum. Petr Nedoma dobře vede Galerii Rudolfinum již šestnáctým rokem a získal si přitom uznání odborníků i široké veřejnosti. Galerie Rudolfinum se pod jeho vedením vyprofilovala na galerii mezinárodní úrovně. Díky svým kontaktům a kurátorským schopnostem se mu do Prahy podařilo dostat světově proslulé umělce a rovněž připravit řadu mimořádně kvalitních a divácky atraktivních expozic českého umění. Do roku 2012 má Nedoma připravené výstavní projekty, které se po jeho odvolání zřejmě nebudou moci uskutečnit. Podle informací v médiích si již Vladimír Darjanin vybral na místo ředitelky Galerie Rudolfinum Sylvu Petrovou, mimo jiné kurátorku expozice českého ateliérového skla na EXPO 2005 v Aiči, kde sám působil jako komisař české účasti. Nezpochybňujeme její odborné znalosti v oblasti sklářské tvorby, ale nevidíme žádný závažný důvod, proč by měla nahradit úspěšného a mezinárodně renomovaného dosavadního ředitele Petra Nedomu a proč by galerie měla náhle měnit svůj program a své směřování. Není možné, aby o lidech na důležitých kulturních postech rozhodovaly subjektivní motivace a osobní kontakty.

We ask Vladimír Darjanin, who is set to become the new head of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra as of 1 July 2009, to reconsider the dismissal of Petr Nedoma from his position as director of Rudolfinum Gallery. Petr Nedoma has done an excellent job running Rudolfinum Gallery for the past sixteen years and during that time has earned recognition from both experts and the wider public. Under his direction, Rudolfinum Gallery has evolved into a gallery of international standards. Thanks to Petr Nedoma’s curatorial skills and contacts he succeeded in attracting internationally renowned artists to Prague, while at the same time he also prepared and put on exceptionally high-quality exhibitions of Czech art that appealed strongly to the public. Nedoma has exhibition projects prepared for the years up until 2012, projects that clearly will not be realised following his dismissal. According to information provided through the media, Vladimír Darjanin has already selected Sylva Petrová as the new head of Rudolfinum Gallery. Sylva Petrová was, among other things, the curator of the exhibit of Czech designer glass at EXPO 2005 in Aichi, where Darjanin himself was the commissioner of the Czech presentation. We do not question her profession qualifications in the field of glass art, but we see no reason why she should replace the successful and internationally recognised current head of the gallery, Petra Nedoma, and why the gallery should suddenly change its programme and its orientation. It is unacceptable to allow subjective motives and personal contacts to influence decisions relating to important positions in the cultural sphere.
